So much for Easter brunch outside
Bob went outside on Good Friday, and spent a few hours bringing out the patio furniture in soft and balmy (for April in Ontario) weather. He raked up the entire back yard and uncovered the lawn ornaments, which we cover with plastic wrap each autumn. We were hoping for an Easter Sunday brunch on the patio in moderate weather. This happens about a third of the time in southern Ontario. Not this year, though. Overnight on Saturday, it began to snow, and by Easter morning, the patio was covered with a fresh layer of white stuff. Click any of the photos below to see them as a slide show.
- The patio table might have been set for lunch, and this is not cotton candy covering it.
- The Japanese-style plants are meant to be hardy enough to survive outside year-round, though we had hoped to bathe them in sunshine rather than see them covered in snow for Easter
- The pussycat ornament came out of the shed on Good Friday, only to greet visitors with a layer of snow on Easter Sunday morning.
- Fresh out of the shed, and hoping to be the harbinger of warm weather, this lawn ornament will shiver thorough a late Easter snow in the back yard.
- Yes, Easter brunch was inside, as a gentle snow continued to fall on Easter morning.
And so the reluctant spring after the unending winter continues, with forecast temperatures below normal well into May. Nonetheless, we pass along our warm wishes for a Happy Easter to one and all among friends and family. Once the weather warms up, it is a quick conversion to the summer routine. Come see us.

However, seeing as how Andrea was stuck inside, we did have a great lunch of freshly-made hamburgers. Andrea did a nice chicken biryani for dinner. That might not have happened if the weather had been good enough to get on the business end of rakes and other garden tools.
